Pranayama is the yogic practice of regulating the breath or life force (prana) in order to increase vitality and overall well-being. While pranayama is a fundamental part of any cohesive yoga practice, it is often overlooked in favor of the ‘sexier’ asana component. Let us come together to experience the truly sacred and intimate nature of the breath!
In this workshop, we will explore the anatomy and philosophy of a breath-centered yoga practice in the tradition of yoga master teacher, Krishnamacharya. In addition to learning the integration of powerful breathing techniques into one’s individual practice, we will explore a variety of pranayama exercises for cleansing, energizing, healing, and cultivating deeper relationships with self and others. We will also address the use of the three bandhas (energetic locks) and appropriate mudras as they relate to the breath.
This workshop is appropriate for practitioners of all levels. Bring a friend, lover, boss or grandparent as we delve into the world of our most constant companion: our breath. Please wear flexible, comfortable clothing. Bring a notebook and pen.
